Covidien 1806 Curity Gauze Sponge, Sterile 2'sI recently tore a chunk out of my calf and I ran out of gauze pads. Doc said to keep it covered and apply triple antibiotic for a week and change the pad every day. Hospital gave me 3 pads. Go figure. Right size, great price and fast shipping. Life only gets better with beer and pretzels.Thanks Amazon. 5A question re: whether these are 100% cottonMy dr. said to get 100% cotton, and this product came up in search results, and I bought it. However, I'm not sure if these are 100% cotton. Not 2x2 and not 8 ply.... comes 2 in a package so not sterile after opening. Even using both, is still not 8 ply. See picture of a real 2x2 8 ply..... 1DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCTDO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT ! Paper thin gauze pads no different than a tissue. Don't be fooled by cheap price. You have to use so many of them you end up losing money. After multiple skin cancer surgeries and a few skin graphs to go with them, the CVS store brand is far and away the thickest, best performing gauze pads I've ever seen. 1Couldn't use themDue to allergies to the adhesives in ready-made gauze bandages, I have to make my own using cotton gauze and a tape, cut to size, that is formaldehyde free and doesn't pull my skin off. I'd used this exact brand before, but the second time, the pads had a slight fragrance to them. I am severely allergic to fragrance too!!! I contacted the company and they were confused as they supposedly don't put fragrance in/on the pads. These WERE scented. I'd opened a couple of packs, then had my spouse open more. They had to go into the trash, but I did receive a refund. Very disappointed because I'd previously liked the density of the weave as well as the thickness, more than other brands. 2Not packaged properlyTypical 8 ply sponges The 2 per pack the others reviews complained about is the industry standard, and the thickness is typical of sponges. Some of the review saying how thin they are were comparing them to gauze pads, not other gauze sponges. For sponges, they are just what you should expect. However,, they arrived in an open display box. I only received 45 packages (90 sponges) and 5 of those packages were damaged, so I only have 80 that are usable. 20% missing and damaged is completely unacceptable. 2OK BUTGreat buy, but crappy packaging. The box the pads sit in is flimsy cardboard and is always toppling over or the pads are falling out. One of these days I will find a replacement to hold them or just use a rubber band. 4Old Product-DisappointedBox holding individual sponges was not sealed. Individual sponge packages looked like they had been sitting on a shelf in the sun for a very, very long time; discolored and wrinkled. Since I need them to be sterile, I do not feel confident using them.I was also disappointed because I could not return them. Not a huge expense, just very disappointing. 1Great thin gauze!I ll start by saying these are really thin which was good for my situation where I had to place a formed plastic splint over wrapped hand. A box contains 50 tear open packs of (2) 2x2 squares so 100 total. These may not be good if your wound is seeping/bleeding a lot. 5Do not buy -gauze are not sterileThe item came opened and cannot be returned. Item is going in the trash as it cannot be used for any purpose. What a waste of money 1
